Bring creative possibility into form.
Creative Rising is a strategy, facilitation and organizational learning practice working with arts and cultural organizations, nonprofits, higher education and public institutions navigating change and complexity.
Where We Work
Arts, Culture & Creative Organizations
Creative Rising supports arts and cultural organizations balancing creative purpose with organizational realities.
Work may involve artistic and administrative leadership, boards, staff, artists, communities and partners navigating strategy, participation, organizational change, governance or sustainability.
Nonprofit & Community Organizations
Creative Rising works with mission-driven organizations operating within complex community relationships, governance responsibilities and resource realities.
Engagements may support strategic direction, stakeholder and community engagement, organizational capacity, leadership and collaborative decision-making.
Higher Education
Creative Rising supports inquiry and facilitation in institutions where decisions often span academic, administrative and governance environments.
Work may include collaborative planning, curricular or program change, stakeholder engagement, research and synthesis, leadership development and institutional learning.
Public Institutions & Public-Interest Organizations
Creative Rising works with organizations navigating public mandates, multiple constituencies and complex accountability environments.
Engagements may support consultation, organizational inquiry, facilitated planning, leadership development and decisions informed by multiple perspectives.
When the Work Can Be Useful
- an organization is developing a strategic plan or setting future priorities
- a team or organization needs to gather input, make sense of complexity, and move toward shared commitments
- a client needs facilitation, synthesis, and implementation support, not only a workshop
- an organization wants to develop managers, emerging leaders, or internal coaching capacity
- a team is navigating change, conflict, accountability, or recurring tension
- an individual is stepping into a new role, project, or phase of work
How the Work Begins
Every engagement begins by understanding the situation.
An initial conversation explores the question, goal, tension, or opportunity bringing the client to the work. From there, Creative Rising helps clarify the scope of the work, the people and perspectives that need to be involved, and the form of support that best fits the situation.
For teams and organizations, discovery may include sponsor conversations, interviews or engagement with relevant groups, assessment, environmental scanning, review of existing materials, and clarification of roles, confidentiality, decision-making, accountability, and desired outcomes.
The work then moves through agreements, co-design, practice, reflection, action, and integration.
1. Initial Conversation
Explore the situation, questions, goals, and fit.
2. Discovery & Assessment
Understand the relevant individual, team, organizational, or community conditions.
3. Agreements & Co-Design
Clarify scope, roles, responsibilities, confidentiality, outcomes, and structure.
4. Practice & Integration
Move into coaching, facilitation, learning, synthesis, action, and next steps.
